ASPSeek

ASPSeek is an Internet search engine, written in C++ using the STL library. It consists of an indexing robot, a search daemon, and a CGI search frontend. It can index as many as a few million URLs and search for words and phrases, use wildcards, and do a Boolean search. Search results can be limited to time period given, site or Web space (set of sites) and sorted by relevance (PageRanks are used) or date. ASPSeek is optimized for multiple sites (threaded index, async DNS lookups, grouping results by site, Web spaces), but can be used for searching one site as well. ASPSeek can work with multiple languages/encodings at once (including multibyte encodings such as Chinese) due to optional Unicode storage mode. Other features include stopwords and ispell support, a charset and language guesser, HTML templates for search results, excerpts, and query words highlighting.

BengTheBattleEngine

Beng implements console-style RPG fighting, with over 50 different monster and character classes, over 60 spells, and 8 areas to wander for random encounters in a Perl IRC bot (using Net::IRC). It has a fast mode for unlimited play, and a slow mode to limit play and keep it a side-attraction of your channel instead of taking over. Accounts are persistant and password-protected (state is saved every few minutes, or on command).

Dancer IRCD is an IRC daemon that was first developed for use on OpenProjects.Net. It is designed around central administration concepts. It is based on Hybrid 6/6.2/7, although it has been morphed into something completely different.

FTPmond

FTPmond is a multithreaded daemon that informs a pre-defined mailing list when a new file is uploaded to a local FTP server. Mailing list members receive an e-mail containing a description of the length, date and name of the uploaded file, and of the success/failure of the transfer. Each FTP user can be added to a different mailing list.

Mail-bounce

Mail-bounce is a general purpose Perl program for returning E-mail to the sender with a variety of user customized notices. It can be used for bouncing spam, sending notification to "friends" who send you viruses and much more. Mail-bounce would typically work in conjunction with procmail for mail filtering but can be used alone.

mmftpd

mmftpd is a secure FTP server that runs as a normal user, and supports virtual users only. Each user may have specific permissions, and the daemon uses libpth for portable threads instead of fork(). It runs on both BSD and Linux systems, and is ideal for a setup with many Web virtual host customers. It was written from scratch, with no borrowed code.

Namazu

Namazu is a full-text search system intended for easy use. Not only does it work as a small or medium scale Web search engine, but also as a personal search system for email or other files. Supported document types: HTML, Mail/News, MHonArc, RFC, TeX (with detex), man (with groff), Word (with wvWare), PDF (with pdftotext) and plain text.

PHP is a widely-used Open Source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML. Its syntax draws upon C, Java, and Perl, and is easy to learn. PHP runs on many different platforms and can be used as a standalone executable or as a module under a variety of Web servers. It has excellent support for databases, XML, LDAP, IMAP, Java, various Internet protocols, and general data manipulation, and is extensible via its powerful API. rsync

rsync is a replacement for rcp (and scp) that has many more features. It uses the "rsync algorithm" which provides a very fast method for remote files into sync. It does this by sending just the differences in the files across the link, without requiring that both sets of files are present at one of the ends of the link beforehand.

Stripper

Stripper is a Unix command line tool for optimizing the size of HTML, PHP, and JPEG files. Stripper is built on the same core technology as the mod_stripper Apache Web server module. Stripper allows Web designers to optimize the size of HTML and JPEG files before publishing to the Web. Stripper can reduce the size of HTML and JPEG content by up to 50%, which will greatly increase download speed and decrease bandwidth usage.
