Astro;;DSS_Module

Astro::DSS Module is an object orientated Perl module that provides an interface to both the first and second Digital Sky Surveys at the ESO-ECF online archive. While the first sky survey is 100% complete, the second survey covers 98% of the sky in Red, 45% of the sky in Blue, and 27% of the sky in Infra-red.

DirectFB

DirectFB is a thin library that provides developers with hardware graphics acceleration, input device handling and abstraction, an integrated windowing system with support for translucent windows and multiple display layers on top of the Linux framebuffer device. It is a complete hardware abstraction layer with software fallbacks for every graphics operation that is not supported by the underlying hardware.

Distro

distro is a small utility used to identify which distribution is being run on a system. It distinguishes between the major Linux distributions, as well as Solaris and BSD systems. This script was written primarily to be used in other programs that are used on many different operating systems, and which store files according to which system it is used on.

LibXML

Libxml is the XML C library developed for the Gnome project. The library code is portable (to Linux, Unix, Windows, embedded systems, etc.) and modular; most of the extensions can be compiled out. Libxml implements a number of existing standards related to markup languages, including the XML standard, Namespaces in XML, XML Base, RFC 2396, XPath, XPointer, HTML4, XInclude, SGML Catalogs, and XML Catalogs. In most cases, libxml tries to implement the specifications in a relatively strict way. To some extent, it provides support for the following specifications, but doesn't claim to implement them: DOM, FTP client, HTTP client, SAX, and DocBook SGML.

LibXSLT

Libxslt is a C library for GNOME which allows developers to work with XSLT. It is based on libxml for XML parsing, tree manipulation, and XPath support. It is written in plain C, making as few assumptions as possible, and sticking closely to ANSI C/POSIX for easy embedding. It should work on Linux, Unix, and Windows. Though not designed primarily with performances in mind, libxslt seems to be a relatively fast processor.

Mesa

Mesa is a 3-D graphics library which uses the OpenGL API (Application Programming Interface). Mesa cannot be called an implementation of OpenGL since the author did not obtain an OpenGL license from SGI. Furthermore, Mesa cannot claim OpenGL conformance since the conformance tests are only available to OpenGL licensees. Despite these technical/legal terms, you may find Mesa to be a valid alternative to OpenGL. Most applications written for OpenGL can use Mesa instead without changing the source code.

Pike

Pike is an interpreted, object-oriented, dynamic programming language with a syntax similar to C. It includes a powerful modules system that, for instance, has image manipulation, database connectivity and advanced cryptography. It is simple to learn, does not require long compilation passes and has powerful built-in data types allowing simple and fast data manipulation.

Python

Python is an interpreted, interactive, object-oriented programming language. It combines remarkable power with very clear syntax, and isn't difficult to learn. It has modules, classes, exceptions, very high level data types, and dynamic typing. There are interfaces to many system calls and libraries, as well as to various windowing systems (Tk, Mac, MFC, GTK+, Qt, wxWindows). Newbuilt-in modules are easily written in C or C++. Python is also usable as an extension language for applications that need a programmable interface.

QT

Qt is a cross-platform C++ GUI application framework. It provides application developers with all the functionality needed to build state-of-the-art graphical user interfaces. Qt is fully object-oriented, easily extensible, and allows true component programming. It is supported on Windows 95/98/NT/2000, Linux, Mac OS X (beta), Sun Solaris, HP-UX, Digital Unix, IBM AIX, SGI IRIX and a wide range of other platforms, and also comes with an embedded version.

SQLite

SQLite is a C library that implements an SQL database engine. A large subset of SQL92 is supported. A complete database is stored in a single disk file. The API is designed for convenience and ease of use. Applications that link against SQLite can enjoy the power and flexiblity of an SQL database without the administrative hassles of supporting a separate database server. Because it omits the client-server interaction overhead and writes directly to disk, SQLite is also faster than the big database servers for most operations. In addition to the C library, the SQLite distribution includes a command-line tool for interacting with SQLite databases and SQLite bindings for TCL/Tk.

wxPython

wxPython is a Python extension module that wraps the wxWindows cross-platform GUI library and provides an alternative to Tkinter and PythonWin. It attempts to mirror the class hierarchy of wxWindows as closely as possible and is very versatile. It can be used to create standalone GUI applications or can be used in situations in which Python is embedded in a wxWindows C++ application as an internal scripting or macro language. The currently supported GUIs are Win32 and GTK/X-Windows.
