The GNU Compiler Collection contains frontends for C, C++, Objective-C, Fortran, Java, and Ada as well as libraries for these languages. It is a full-featured ANSI C compiler with support for K&R C as well. GCC provides many levels of source code error checking traditionally provided by other tools (such as lint), produces debugging information, and can perform many different optimizations to the resulting object code.

GETGUI is a standalone X11 utility that can be used to easily add a degree of graphical user interface functionality to shell scripts or other programs. It can display informational messages and progress messages, or it can be used to get user input via dialog boxes, keyboard input fields, pulldown menus, or select boxes. "Wizard"-type procedural interfaces can be implemented using a series of getgui invocations.

Qt UI Viewer is a Qt-only version of the KUIViewer application that ships with the KDE SDK. It makes it possible to view Qt Designer UI files without having any of the Qt development tools installed. This allows developers to show customers not only what user interfaces will look like, but also how they will behave. It has the ability to print and save screen captures of the current user interface as well as copy it to the clipboard.

The Zeus Java Swing Components Library provides useful Swing components for easier GUI development. It uses only standard components to create widgets, and uses standard patterns wherever possible. The widgets include JConsole, a console replacement; JSplash, a splash screen implementation; TableSorter, which provides sorting for JTable using the table's headers; OutLookToolBar, which provides the mouse over looks of Microsoft Outlook toolbar buttons on a simple JToolBar; WindowManager, which provides almost any functionality you need to manage all JInternalFrames within a JDesktop; and much more.
