Here is the proprietary driver for ATI graphics cards (eg Radeon). X.org includes basic drivers, but for full 3D performance you should install this driver. Copy the driver file to your home directory, then open a terminal window, switch to root and enter 'sh ati-driver-installer-11-1-x86.x86_64.run' to install. (You may need to close the X Window System first - consult your distro's documentation for more details.)

When installing software, and 'make install' is done, CheckInstall will create a Slackware, RPM or Debian compatible package and install it with Slackware's installpkg, "rpm -i" or Debian's "dpkg -i" as appropriate, so you can view it's contents with pkgtool ("rpm -ql" for RPM users or "dpkg -l" for Debian) or remove it with removepkg ("rpm -e"|"dpkg -r").

Copy the .run file to your home directory, and then enter 'sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.36.run' at a terminal prompt, as root, to install. You may need to halt the X server and do this from the command-line; see your distro's docs for more info.

WvDial is a tool that lets you connect to the internet using a dial-up modem.
