Distros
Debian is one of the oldest and most well-respected Linux distributions around. It's the basis for Ubuntu, it's incredibly well-tested, and it's supported for many years. This DVD contains the new release, 6.0, which you can boot in live mode or install - just boot your PC from the DVD and choose your option from the menu. See the mag's disc pages for more info.

INX is a distro that has no graphical interface, but demonstrates just how powerful a text-only flavour of Linux can be. INX is intended as a "tutorial" and introduction to the Bash command line, but is a fully capable, portable GNU/Linux system in its own right. It has a collection of easy-to-use menus, colour themes, easy configuration tools, music (and video on the frame buffer), some games, and several surprises for those who are not aware of what can be done in a console/tty. Here's an ISO of the latest release, for burning to a CD-R and booting.

Want to try out KDE 4.6? Boot your PC from this DVD and using the cursor keys, scroll downwards through the menu until you see KDE Live. This will boot up Chakra Linux, a distro that sports the very latest KDE release, which you can test directly from the disc. See the mag's DVD pages for more info.
