BashBurn (Previously Magma) is a bash script designed to make CD burning at the console easier. It supports burning normal data CDs, audio CDs, blanking CD-RWs, multisession, and more.

cdrtools (formerly cdrecord) creates home-burned CDs with a CDR/CDRW recorder. It works as a burn engine for several applications. It supports CD recorders from many different vendors; all SCSI-3/mmc- and ATAPI/mmc-compliant drives should also work. Supported features include IDE/ATAPI, parallel port, and SCSI drives, audio CDs, data CDs, and mixed CDs, full multi-session support, CDRWs (rewritable), TAO, DAO, RAW, and human-readable error messages. cdrtools includes remote SCSI support and can access local or remote CD writers.

konserve is a small backup application for KDE 3. It lives in the system tray and is able to create backups of several directories or files periodically. Konserve uses standard KDE network transparency to upload your backups to wherever you want. Also it is possible to restore a incidentally-deleted file or directory from a backup file with just one mouse click. A nice wizard helps you with the first steps in using Konserve.

Pogo is a lightweight, elegant, programmable, and highly customizable application launcher for X11. Its most unique feature is that it allows external programs to dramatically modify its appearance using a variety of different methods, such as flashing, moving, or changing the color or shape of specific icons. It is fully themable, and comes with a large number of pre-made launcher icons, scripts, and usage examples to help you customize it to match your individual system. In addition to serving as a potential replacement for tools like GKrellM or GNOME/KDE's launcher, it can also be used as a generic front-end for applications and scripts which lack their own displays.

SimpleCDR-X is a GTK+ based frontend for CD writing, mastering, and audio manipulation. Its design goals include ease of use and a clean interface without compromising functionality. SimpleCDR-X utilizes many common utilities such as cdrecord, cdrdao, mkisofs, cdparanoia, cdda2wav, mpg123, ogg tools, and lame. SimpleCDR-X supports on-the-fly CD track ripping to MP3 or OGG and importing of MP3 or OGG files to CD in Audio CD Mastering. SimpleCDR-X also features CD Copying, burning from a saved ISO, and Data CD Mastering.
