BASH Debugger provides a patched BASH that enables better debugging support as well as improved error reporting. It also contains the most comprehensive source code debugger for BASH that has been written. It can be used as a springboard for other experimental features (such as adding hashtables), since development is maintained openly and developers are encouraged to participate.

BusyBox combines tiny versions of many common UNIX utilities into a single small executable. It provides minimalist replacements for most of the utilities you usually find in GNU fileutils, shellutils, etc. The utilities in BusyBox generally have fewer options than their full-featured GNU cousins; however, the options that are included provide the expected functionality and behave very much like their GNU counterparts. BusyBox provides a fairly complete POSIX environment for any small or embedded system.

cnikJEditor allows you to edit text, HTML pages, Java classes, and C++ code. It can also act as a front-end for compiling Java and C++. This IDE is completely written in Java using Swing. Features include skeleton code for Applets, JApplets, Frames, JFrames, main functions, midlets, and HTML code. The editor also includes a basic viewer for HTML, GIF, and JPEG files.

daemon turns other processes into daemons. There are many tedious tasks that need to be performed to correctly set up a daemon process; daemon performs these tasks for other processes. This is useful for writing daemons in languages other than C, C++, or Perl (e.g. sh, Java). If you want to write daemons in languages that can link against C functions (e.g. C, C++), see libslack, which contains the core functionality of daemon.

DrJava is an integrated Java development environment that supports interactive evaluation of expressions. Though it is under active development by the JavaPLT research group at Rice University, DrJava is stable and is currently being used by students, teachers and other developers. A Java 2 v1.3-compliant Java virtual machine is required.

Enterprise Gantt is a Gantt chart library, and is becoming a generic charting library to support a variety of charts. The library strongly conforms to the Model View Controller architecture recommended by Sun. A lot of effort has been put into this library, from the design perspective rather than the feature perspective, to make this the most flexible library of its kind.

JpGraph is a OO Graph drawing library for PHP 4.0.2 and above. Highlights of the available features are: text, linear, and log scales for both the X and Y axes, anti-aliasing of lines, color-gradient fills, support for GIF, JPG, and PNG formats, support for two Y axes, spider plots (a.k.a Web plots), pie-charts, lineplots, filled line plots, impulse plots, bar plots, and error plots, support for multiple plot types in one graph, intelligent autoscaling, and extensive documentation (145 pages).

Libslack is a library of general utilities designed to make UNIX/C programming a bit easier on the eye. It was originally implemented as part of the daemon program. It's a small library with lots of functionality, is accurately documented and was thoroughly tested. Good library naming conventions are not rigorously observed on the principle that common operations should always be easy to write and code should always be easy to read.

Tcl provides a portable scripting environment for Unix, Windows, and Macintosh that supports string processing and pattern matching, native file system access, shell-like control over other programs, TCP/IP networking, timers, and event-driven I/O. Tcl has traditional programming constructs like variables, loops, procedures, namespaces, error handling, script packages, and dynamic loading of DLLs. Tk provides portable GUIs on UNIX, Windows, and Macintosh. A powerful widget set and the concise scripting interface to Tk make it a breeze to develop sophisticated user interfaces.

TCC (Tiny C Compiler) is small, fast, unlimited, and safe. You can compile and execute C code everywhere (e.g., on rescue disks). It generates optimized x86 code, and can compile, assemble, and link several times faster than 'gcc -O0'. Any C dynamic library can be used directly. It includes an optional memory and bounds checker, and bounds-checked code can be mixed freely with standard code. C script is also supported--just add '#!/usr/bin/tcc' at the first line of your C source, and execute it directly from the command line.

Zoinks is a programmer's editor and development environment for Unix/X11 systems. The editor has features similar to Mac text editors like MPW and CodeWarrior. It also has some features for HTML authoring. It supports inputting and editing multi-byte text (e.g. Japanese and other Asian languages).
