being the STS-9 mission. This view show the Columbia from the side as it 
just  clears the launch pad (44997); This is a front view of Columbia's 
liftoff,  showing the external fuel tank and both the orbital manuevering 
system (OMS)  pods. The pad is obscured by clouds of smoke (44998); This is 
a side view of  the liftoff as seen across a pond of water. The glow from 
the engines is  reflected in the pond below (44999).
