The spaceflight hardware for STS-8 begins its move to the launch pad at  
launch complex 39 at the Kennedy Space Center. This view is from behind the  
external fuel tank. The orbital maneuvering system (OMS) pods are visible 
to  either side of the tank. The tips of the orbiter can be seen beside the 
OMS  pods. The mobile launch platform that is being used to move the 
Challenger to  the launch pad is lit with spotlights since the move was 
begun at night.
