UniQWK is a Off-line Mail Reader for QWK package style.
UniQWK is designed to execute under Windows 3.1. With UniQWK
you can process messages quickly, with access to all Windows
3.1 facilities. In addition to most commons features of popular
DOS Mail reads, UniQWK provides special facilities to process
foreign characters. You can send and receive messages with
symbols like ã, ‚, “... ANSI ART messages are supported. All
under Windows 3.1

About UniQWK:

UniQWK is not a free software. You can test it for one
month. If you decide to use it, after a trial period, you must
get a license. A license for the use of UniQWK can be
obtained by sending a $30.00 (American dollars) registration
fee.
Regarding the Shareware registration. There is only one
reminder box just to stimulate you about the registration. This
is NOT a crippled version of the program.
The license fee paid for UniQWK is a one time fee. The
licence legalizes your use of the program and keep you free from the
borring reminder box and taglines. Licensed users can use future
revisions of UniQWK without aditional fee.
If the registration response is good then we'll have
the incentive to keep improving the program. It is very nice to
know that some of you like what we've done, but it's better to
receive some money... Anyway, your comments and suggestions
are greatly appreciated.
UniQWK must be copied in an unmodified form and contain
all files as described at "This ZIP file contains".
Public Domain Disk Vendors and distributors of public domain
and user suported software may not charge a fee for UniQWK itself.
However you may include UniQWK on a diskette for which you charge a
nominal distribution fee. The purchaser of said diskette must be
informed in advance that the fee paid to acquire the diskette
does NOT relieve said purchaser from paying the Registration Fee
for UniQWK.
Operators of electronic bulletin board systems (Sysops) may
post UniQWK for downloading by their users without written permission
only as long as the above conditions are met. A fee may be charged for
access to the BBS as long as no specific fee is charged for downloading
UniQWK files.
BBS Operators (Sysops) can get a special (free!)
license if they post this software for downloading - contact us.
How to Install
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Copy MRPACK.PIF and MRUNPACK.PIF into your Windows directory.
- Copy UNIQWK.EXE, UNIQWK.HLP and BCWTERM.FNT into a directory
created specifically.
- Create a work directory (EX: c:\mr). Keep it empty and
doesn't use it to anything else. UniQWK will erase it.
- Run Windows, if you still are at old DOS prompt.
- With Program Manager, set UniQWK into any group of your choice
- Run UniQWK.
- You MUST choose the "CONFIG" menu before reading any .QWK
packet, in order to set the default directories. Special care
with the "work directory", UniQWK clears this directory, so use
it only for UniQWK.
- Check, with PIF Editor, if the .PIF files are correct for
your system and if the compress/uncompress programs of your
choice are correct.
- Set Message Editor, colors, etc.
- For more information, use the Help Facilities.
- Open any .QWK using appropriate option on FILE menu and enjoy.
- UniQWK doesn't use .NDX files, so you can disable index files
generation (see your BBS configuration) and save your time.
Upgrading from version 1.0
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are upgrading from version 1.0, you need only replace old files
UNIQWK.EXE and UNIQWK.HLP by the new ones. No change is necessary in your
configuration file.
License Agreement

Please feel free to upload this software to any electronic
bulletin board, demonstrate the software and its capabilities or
give copies to potential users, so that others may have the
opportunity to obtain a copy for use in accordance with the license
terms contained in this file.
CAREFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING LEGAL AGREEMENT. YOU MUST PROMPTLY
REGISTER YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE PROVIDED WITH THIS AGREEMENT
(THE "SOFTWARE") BY COMPLETING AND FORWARDING TO UniKEY
INFORMATICA ("UniKEY") THE FORM CONTAINED AT THE END OF THIS
DOCUMENT.
1. LICENSE GRANT. UniKEY grants to you, as an individual,
a non-exclusive right to use one copy of the object code
version of the SOFTWARE associated with this license for
personal use on your computer. This license to use the
SOFTWARE is conditioned upon your compliance with the terms of
this Agreement. You are entitled to evaluate the software on a
royalty free basis for thirty days. Use after the thirty day
evaluation period is further conditioned upon payment of the
license fee specified in this README.TXT file. You agree you
will only copy the SOFTWARE as necessary to use it in
accordance with this license.
2. COPYRIGHT. The SOFTWARE is protected by Brazilian
copyright law and international treaty provisions. You
acknowledge that no title to the intellectual property in the
SOFTWARE is transferred to you. You further acknowledge that
title and full ownership rights to the SOFTWARE will remain the
exclusive property of UniKEY or its suppliers, and you will not
acquire any rights to the SOFTWARE except as expressly set
forth in this license. You agree that any copies of the
SOFTWARE will contain the same proprietary notices which appear
on and in the SOFTWARE.
3. REVERSE ENGINEERING. You agree that you will not
attempt to reverse compile, modify, translate, or disassemble
the SOFTWARE in whole or in part.
4. LIMITED WARRANTY. UniKEY warrants that the SOFTWARE
will perform substantially in accordance with the accompanying
written materials for a period of ninety (90) days from the
date of purchase. Any implied warranties relating to the
SOFTWARE are limited to ninety (90) days.
5. CUSTOMER REMEDIES. If the SOFTWARE does not conform to
the limited warranty in Section 4 above ("Limited Warranty"),
UniKEY's entire liability and your sole and exclusive remedy
shall be, at UniKEY's option, either to (a) correct the error
or (b) help you work around or avoid the error. The Limited
Warranty is void if failure of the SOFTWARE has resulted from
accident, abuse, or misapplication. Any replacement SOFTWARE
will be warranted for the remainder of the original Limited
Warranty period.
6. NO OTHER WARRANTIES. UniKEY does not warrant that the
SOFTWARE is error free. Except for the express limited
warranty in section 4 ("LIMITED WARRANTY"), UniKEY disclaims
all other warranties with respect to the software, either
express or implied, including but not limited to implied
warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose
and noninfringement of third party rights. Some jurisdictions
do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or limitations
on how long an implied warranty may last, or the exclusion or
limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above
limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty
gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other
rights which vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
7. SEVERABILITY. In the event of invalidity of any
provision of this license, the parties agree that such
invalidity shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions of this license.
8. No liability for consequential damages. In no event
shall UniKEY or its suppliers be liable to you for any
consequential, special, incidental or indirect damages of any
kind arising out of the delivery, performance or use of the
software, even if UniKEY has been advised of the possibility of
such damages. In no event will UniKEY's liability for any
claim, whether in contract, tort or any other theory of
liability, exceed the license fee paid by you, if any.
9. GOVERNING LAW. This license will be governed by the
laws of Brazil as they are applied to agreements between Brazil
residents entered into and to be performed entirely within
Brazil. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the
International Sale of Goods is specifically disclaimed.
10. ENTIRE AGREEMENT. This is the entire agreement between
you and UniKEY which supersedes any prior agreement or
understanding, whether written or oral, relating to the subject
matter of this license.
