XBRU: The X11 Interface for BRU

Built around the premise that a "Reliable Backup doesn't have to be difficult" and that an "Easy to Use Backup doesn't have to be limiting."

BRU for X11 provides novice users and seasoned SysAdmins with an easy to use, yet powerful interface for BRU.

From XBRU's Main Menu (shown below) you can see the large, easy to use buttons which provide the simple, point-and-click functionality of BRU's new GUI.

XBRU provides the reliability of BRU with the ease of a GUI
  • Click on the file/directory to restore and select Add
  • Use the Search button to find and restore that missing file quickly
  • Create your own Backup Definitions and save for future use
  • Load predefined Backup Definitions for quick backups
  • Schedule unattended backups painlessly
XBRU provides many, but not all, of the features that BRU offers from command line. It's designed to provide ease of use; however, there are some features of BRU that must still be done at the prompt! The following list shows a few (but not all) of the limitations:
  • XBRU does not work with autoloaders
  • XBRU does not allow double-buffering
  • XBRU does not have all advanced restore features
    (i.e., Skip Existing files [-E]...)
