Put this line in your .netrc :


machine ftp.uu.net login anonymous password -your-login-name@your-full-host-name

And then "ftp ftp.uu.net"

replace the login and host names above, with your own. I always put a dash in
front of the login name (as some machines don't work without it).

In directory /inet/rfc you will find the whole ongoing RFC's.  Download the
rfc-index about once a month to see what is obsolete or added.

Actually, I reported this problem a couple of years ago, and posted updated
SMTP code then (there are other problems in the SMTP line lengths as well).

Phil did not include the fixes at that time, but I thought that others did.

Both the client and server have to be fixed.

I am in favor of the "conservative" fix (<CRLF>.. -> <CRLF>.).
