It does indeed add two extra bytes which are used to negotiate some extra parameters. He made no comment on whether this is precisely in the spec, merely observing that BPQ works with everything else he has ever come across. I think that the answer is the one line fix for WAMPES to allow extra private trailing bytes on the connect, and to be done with it. It's only changing an == to a < after all. The one I have is dated 1987, is 16 bit, has a number of a003700-01 rev J. It is a full card 32K of ram (16 wide) both AUI and BNC. I have FTP written, Systek labeled TCP/IP SW for it. Has anyone used one of thes with NOS? I do not believe I hve seen a Sytek driver. It uses a DP8390/91 chip set. I asked him for some information regarding the extra bytes that he appends to the Connect Request and Connect Acknowledge NET/ROM frames. Connect Request --------------- The extra two bytes are the Transport Layer timeout of the NET/ROM connection in seconds in Intel byte order. Connect Acknowledge ------------------- The extra byte is the time to live of the Connect Acknowledge frame as it appears in the NET/ROM Network Layer. This is to allow the receiving station to calculate the number of hops that the Connect Acknowledge frame has passed through. John is currently looking into extending the AX25 frame numbering to be able to allow the maximum window size to be increased considerably. In line with normal practise he will be using the SABM-E frame to indicate the use of this extension.
