To: ham-ant@ucsd.edu I don't have any knowledge of the relative merits of these cars as regards radio noise, but there will be a lot of variation even within one make or model. Further, if you opt for the Taurus you will be a new victim of the American car sales pitch. I won't go into any details here but common sense should prevail. My old Mercedes was very quiet, as is my current BMW. My old Chrysler car was an electronic mess. 73 DE K6DDX ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Mar 1994 15:21:23 GMT From: ihnp4.ucsd.edu!agate!howland.reston.ans.net!europa.eng.gtefsd.com!emory!wa4mei!ke4zv!gary@network.ucsd.edu Subject: Twinaxial cable as transmission line? I got a variety of responses for a car which would be good for 100 watts or so of HF and 50 or so of 2 meter and 440 radio. Criteria were lack of interference from car into receiver and from transmitter into auto electronics. Diesels and the Taurus were among those favored. Anyone else have comments on these choices.
