I'd like to hear from owners of the IC-2330 about its performance and
usability. Would you buy one again, and what are its best and worst
features, etc.?
What about the optional tone control board for it?
Related comments: what is the best 222MHz mobile radio sold in the past
8 years? Explain the reasons you feel that way about the radio,
please.

I've these archive instructions mods for extended xmit for a 2sat:
"...Look for the big IC directly in the middle of the main board on the front
cover (IC-1 40608). Go to the bottom right corner of it. Move your eyes
slightly to the right and you will see three chip resisters in a row.
Just to the right of THOSE you will see three silk screened dots that are
bracketed by a rectangle of white ink lines where a factory diode package
..."
However, in my radio these pads seem to already have a diode
array (I think it's in an SOT-223 package?) occupying the sites!
Where am I going wrong?

I saw one at the Toledo swap last Sunday. Very impressive. I think it
is basically a 737 with six meters built in. Has a ONE HERTZ DDS!
I noticed it received about 45-56 Mhz also.
What I was REALLY interested in was the new IC-820, dual band (VHF/UHF)
all mode base unit.

I'm happy with the Yaesu FT990 I just bought with one exception: the
receive audio on AM needs a little more high-end, through the internal
speaker as well as through two different external speakers I've tried.
I was thinking of trying to find a little in-line equalizer to boost
the treble, but perhaps there's a simpler way? I think I remember I
can cut the highs with a capacitor, can I do the opposite somehow?
Bass response is fine, I don't want to roll off the bottom at all.
If the equalizer is the best solution, perhaps someone knows where I
could obtain one.

That depends on my mood! Actually, neither one is a current
"state-of-the-art" rig, by todays standards (and wallets). It really
isn't fair to compare an FT-757GX with a TS-120S. Now if you ask me
about how they compare with my DX-20 (age showing)...
