Would you buy one again, and what are its best and worst features, etc.? What about the optional tone control board for it? Go to the bottom right corner of it. Move your eyes slightly to the right and you will see three chip resisters in a row. Just to the right of THOSE you will see three silk screened dots that are bracketed by a rectangle of white ink lines where a factory diode package ..." However, in my radio these pads seem to already have a diode array (I think it's in an SOT-223 package?) occupying the sites! Where am I going wrong? To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu I saw one at the Toledo swap last Sunday. Very impressive. I think it is basically a 737 with six meters built in. Has a ONE HERTZ DDS! I noticed it received about 45-56 Mhz also. What I was REALLY interested in was the new IC-820, dual band (VHF/UHF) all mode base unit. 73 =paul= All that stuff will be at Dayton, so said N7MBA. wb8zjl ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Mar 1994 05:29:53 GMT From: netcomsv!netcomsv!xyzoom!rob@decwrl.dec.com Subject: teq'ing rx audio: best way? To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu I'm happy with the Yaesu FT990 I just bought with one exception: the receive audio on AM needs a little more high-end, through the internal speaker as well as through two different external speakers I've tried. I was thinking of trying to find a little in-line equalizer to boost the treble, but perhaps there's a simpler way? I think I remember I can cut the highs with a capacitor, can I do the opposite somehow? Bass response is fine, I don't want to roll off the bottom at all. If the equalizer is the best solution, perhaps someone knows where I could obtain one. You must however, reset the radio's memories maybe a : couple of times to enable your modifications. Also, the FT-530 cannot : do 30 kHz spacing required for monitoring 800 MHz cellular phone bands. You also lose the automatic repeater shift offset, so I undid my mods a few hours after I did them. 73 de Ed / VE3ZVZ ------------------------------ Date: 28 Mar 94 01:33:17 GMT From: agate!library.ucla.edu!europa.eng.gtefsd.com!howland.reston.ans.net!wupost!crcnis1.unl.edu!unlinfo.unl.edu!gbrown@ucbvax.berkeley.edu To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu References <2mvjsu$3uk@crcnis1.unl.edu>, <2n06q3$690@crcnis1.unl.edu>, <2n0qoj$pge@xmission.xmission.com> Subject : Re: Kenwood a Radio, or Cult Group ??? pbullock@xmission.com (Phil Bullock) writes: >gregory brown (gbrown@unlinfo.unl.edu) wrote: >: It's time to come out of the closet...I own a Kenwood...AND a Yaesu. >: There, I said it, and I feel much better. >Which is better? That depends on my mood! Actually, neither one is a current "state-of-the-art" rig, by todays standards (and wallets). It really isn't fair to compare an FT-757GX with a TS-120S. Now if you ask me about how they compare with my DX-20 (age showing)... 73, Greg WB0RTK ------------------------------ End of Ham-Equip Digest V94 #81 ****************************** ******************************
