To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu My name is Roger, and I own Kenwood radios... It's been 10 months since I bought my last Kenwood. I bought them used because they were such good values and had so many features and multi-color displays. I didn't realize how it would be a problem. I recently sold one of my Kenwoods to buy an Icom. But now, thanks to KA, I have taken steps to recovery and bought Yaesu and Icom radios. Many of my friends still buy Kenwoods, and I often QSO with them, but for now I remain sober, working one rig at a time. Thank you. ;) Roger Keating - KD6EFQ keating@nosc.mil ------------------------------ Date: 25 Mar 94 06:45:21 GMT From: ihnp4.ucsd.edu!swrinde!sgiblab!cs.uoregon.edu!reuter.cse.ogi.edu!netnews.nwnet.net!bach.seattleu.edu!quick!ole!rwing!eskimo!wrt@network.ucsd.edu Subject: Kenwood a Radio, or Cult Group ??? To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu I am considering purchasing a battery for my Yaesu FT-530 from Periphex Inc. They say they have a FNB-26 battery pack replacement for the 530 that uses the same wall charger as the FNB-25. Does anyone have any experience with Periphex products? They are a substantial cost savings over purchasing the battery packs from Yaesu (75$ vs $40 ). Paging Terminals are notorious for running excessive power and running broad. Like at the same elevation...we put out 8 Watts on our repeater and it covers the a large portion of South Eastern Alberta. Meanwhile the Paging company is running a 150W PA at full power...and their coverage area is supposed to be restricted to the city only....they do run a lower pattern off of their antenna.... I can't understand why all the radios in the area pick up paging, regardless of frequency. 8-) -- WORK: lawrence@combdyn.com | PHONE 403 529 2162 | FAX 529 2516 | VE6LKC HOME: dreamer@lhaven.uumh.ab.ca | 403 526 6019 | 529 5102 | VE6PAQ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Praxis BBS - 529 1610 | CYSNET BBS - 526 4304 | Lunatic Haven BBS - 526 6957 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- disclamer = (working_for && !representing) + (Combustion Dynamics Ltd.); ------------------------------ End of Ham-Equip Digest V94 #80 ****************************** ******************************
