Subject: HW-8 users? How do you like it?
To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu

Hello,
I was wondering how other owners of hw-8 like
their rigs. I enjoy mine alot for listening and
copying code though due to the fact I live in an
apartment I haven't been able to put up a
transmitting antenna.
I'll be moving in a month to a place where
I'll be able to put a good antenna. Could someone
point me in the right direction for building a
good antenna for the hw-8.
I would like to build an antenna or antennas that
would let me.
  Transmit on 40
   be portible (camping use) (backpacking)
So this could be 1 or 2 antennas I guess.

I have the ARRL antenna book which has good
(I guess) plans for a dipole which is simple
and in my skill range.
  What has been your expiriance?

  Thanks,
   -

well i just got my icom and sold my ts 440
gee wish i had the 440 back. the stock filters
in the 737a for ssb are wide as a house. the service
rep at icom suggested the 737 over the 765 when i called
can you believe it. if you decide to get rid of 440 let me
know.

Wanted: Icom remote control software to take advantage of the CI-V
interface of my Icom radios. (Yup plural) No Kenwoods or Yaesu stuff,
just a pair of IC-761's and an IC-735.

Happy as a clam with them but I'd like to play with the remote.

Commercial packages as well as shareware and/or stuff available via ftp
 is all welcome.
