I just purchased an HTX-202. Salesman said it just arrived. Are new models
afflicted with same problem? How can one tell the difference between
revisions? Can't test it yet, still waiting for mail from FCC!

MFJ makes single band QRP CW rigs you can get a built in keyer accesory
or audio filter..they are often on the net for as little as $100-$140.
A used Ten Tec Century 22 isn't much and works great at up to 20
watts out with built in audio filter..it is a Direct Conversion
receiver..but a good one. The 21 is older model with built in
power supply.. but recommend the 22 over the 21.. they are both
bultiband..the 22 does 10,15,20,30,40,80 meters.

I have a new Texas Bug Catcher with the 6 foot mast, bottom matching
coil and better top coil (no capacitance hat) works down to 80 meters. I
bought it for article.. mounted, tested and now need to sell it. It was
an over $200 antenna.. I will sell for $140 shipped continental us.

Its unfortunate that the original poster referred to the deviation
problem as a "mod". Most (all?) rigs have a deviation (modulation)
adjustment. Apparently, RS was setting them too low on their
early production units. So chances are today's radio is just like
yesterday's except the adjustment is set differently.
