Subject: Audio noise in Paragon?
To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu

Hello all!

A friend of mine bought a Ten-Tec Paragon trx a couple of years ago. Since
that he has suffered from noise in the audio of the rig. There can be heard
high noise even without an antenna. We believed that the audio stages are
noisy but we do not know exactly the source. Is the phenomena only in this
individual or concerns it all Paragons? Does somebody know any idea for this?
Please if you know something, drop me a line.

 For Sale:
Kenwood TW4000A 25W Dualbander Mobile. Comes with voice read out, tone
card, DTMF mike. Also Connected to it is a 5watt CB with microphone.
For more information Email me here.. Will check often..
It is an older radio but for its age it is in great condition.. only a
minor problem with the voice readout <You cant just push the button,
you have to hold it down for the complete readout> I have used it in
the car and home for packet and it works great! I hooked mine up to a
seperate speaker in the car cause its kind of hard to hear it in a
blazer when on the console.. Comes with its own mounting brackets too..
If anyone needs more info let me know I will be checking here often.
Would like to sell it while im home from college on break. Trey - N5RXZ

I'm looking for a good price on the R-100, or a used one. The best price
I've seen is around $649. If anyone know where I can pick one up cheaper
(or find a used one), please mail directly - I don't usually follow this
group.

Thanks, Bob

To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu

Anyone use the TU 8 with the TS 440? Anyone have the little spec sheet
(manual?) that came with the TU 8? Anyone want to help me out with
installing and programming the TU 8 in my 440? Would love any and all
info. I am interested in some local 10 meter repeaters.

I just received my TS-690S and the TU-8, so I have the spec sheet.
Installation instructions for the TU-8 are in my TS-690 manual,
so I'd expect the same to be in the TS-440 manual (assuming you've
got that.) The spec sheet includes the DIP switch settings for
each of the tone frequencies. It appears, therefore, that you
can only have one frequency active (usable) at any time. I haven't
persued yet how to "program" the use of the tone unit yet, but then
I've only had the rig less than 24 hours.

Call me if you'd like me to FAX you the spec sheet.

Also, I'm sure the Kenwood folks would gladly send you another
spec sheet and installation instructions if you don't have them.

Cheers,
