I am considering buying a Yaesu FT-726 used.
This has been replaced with the FT-736 in their current model line.
I have heard a preference for the 726 over the 736 by some who ought to have
good reasons for their opinions, but I don't know their reasons myself.
Which is a better satelite rig?
Are the modules for the 726 different from the modules for the 736?
Are 726 modules still available?

Subject: Heathkit HW2036 Schematics

I have an old Heathkit HW2036 (2m) that works great in the middle of the
band when it is cold and as it warms up it will expand into the rest of
the band. I have been told that if it is aligned and peaked it should
work all of the band when it is cold also but I need the manual for this
task. Any help with this rig will be greatly appreciated.

Apparently, you can buy the connector wired, but as I recall, it is very

Subject: Icom R71A Computer Interface

I recently bought a used Icom R71A receiver. Looking through the
manual, I see that I need to get two pieces to attach the R71A to a
computer interface. The option that installs inside the R71A has a number
like EX-309 (not sure about this number), and the manual states that you
need the CT-10 interface between the EX-309 and the computer.
I placed a quick call to ICOM in Washington, and the technical
rep told me that I need a UX-14 and a CT-17 to interface the R71A to a
computer. He also suggested I get a C-IV manual.
Reading the descriptions of these options, I conclude that there
is some inconsistant information.
If you actually have interfaced an R71A to a computer, I would
like to know what options you used to do that. Direct email to me would
be fantastic. Thanks all!

Back in September or October, one of the UK ham magazines had
a reiew one the Delta-1A. Can't remember which exact one. Maybe
someone from across the pond can help.

What would you like to know?
I have owned one since September, and I love the radio. It offers alot of
functions in a very small package.
I have found it to have no problems and work as you would expect it to.
pretty natural use.

Someone has indicated that they would like to trade a Kenwood TR-9000 2m all
mode for a 386SX computer I have. I know nothing of this radio, either its
characteristics or original cost. If any one has any information on this
radio and its characteristics I would be appreciative of receiving it. Indeed,
perhaps someone might also know in which QST or CQ the radio might have been
advertised.
I would be especially interested in any direct experience anyone may have
had with the radio and what a fair price would be for such a radio in
excellent condition.

Anyone have the MFJ 815B schematic / manual that I could copy or borrow
or something? I just got an unused one from a gentleman, and the darned
thing won't show any reflected power at all. I suspect it is something
simple, so I don't want to break the deal, I would rather fix it and
keep it. Anyone can help?

I would recommend the Kenwood 742, if you're interested in a tri-band
mobile. I am not sure what else is out there, but I would suggest you
stop by MRC and see what he's got.
