Open the radio as if you were going to install a UT-49/50/51 (RTFM) and the battery will be at the bottom, it unplugs from a wire. Try calling one of the battery shops in the back of QST of a replacment. ________________________________________________________________________ Steven M. Radio System Inc. in Florida makes the PRC-60, which is xtal controlled, and another PR-??, which is 99 channels synthesized. It is, IMHO, tougher than the Sabre, and submersible to boot. From what I've heard, it can be used to chip off ice accretion from the deck of a ship, as well as using it to subdue unruly "perps". :-) Hate the handmike, though! It's downright shoddy compared to the transceiver. It might be half the price of the Sabre if you buy directly from RSI. 73 de ve3uav/aa8lu -- ------------------------------ Date: 27 Nov 93 15:42:51 GMT From: ogicse!uwm.edu!spool.mu.edu!agate!iat.holonet.net!vulcan!n4nr@network.ucsd.edu Subject: Need schematic/manual for Icom IC-22A To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu > I am trying to get a copy of the schematic and instruction/service manual > for the Icom IC-22A. Although in the past several companies made ht's and ht like units that had fm and ssb, as far as I know the only current production models are the Yaesu "mark II" series. There is one for 2m (the 290r mark II) one for 430/440 and one for 6 meters. The units are fairly nice except that the ctcss board is on the bottom of the main unit and it needs to be exposed to change frequencies. :-( The radios consist of a portable main unit with a clip on linear amp. If you remove the linear and clip on the optinal battery pack, you have a 2.5 watt portable. The linears give you 25 watts on 2m and 10 on 6m/440. If the battery pack is on, the antenna gets connected to a bnc on the top/front, if the linear is in place there is an so-239 on the back. The unit includes a car bracket for use with the linear. The 2m unit uses less than 4 amps at full power (25w fm) IMHO thats pretty good. I have had excelent results with my 290r mk II, and recommend it highly. 73, Geoff -- I used to talk to myself..... But, boy, the Omni is _so_ sweet in CW. 73, Kok Chen, AA6TY kchen@apple.com Apple Computer, Inc. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Nov 1993 03:08:52 GMT From: munnari.oz.au!sgiblab!spool.mu.edu!caen!usenet.coe.montana.edu!grapevine.lcs.mit.edu!lynx!j.perry@network.ucsd.edu To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu References <2cr82m$etu@oak.oakland.edu>, <gtaylor.264.754008090@taex003n.tamu.edu>, <1993Nov24.031507.11613@mixcom.mixcom.com>y Subject : Re: Best 2m handheld?
