M. Sargent WAC-44 GC receiver, made in 1940. In wonderful working condition and excellent cosmetic condition. But 5 of the knobs are not original. No mods. So how rare is it? Well, let's put it this way: Have you ever seen one advertised for sale before anywhere? At any price? This radio would be a highlight in any pre-war collection: $695 Hallicrafters SX-28A, 1941-vintage classic GC receiver, in very good working condition with matching speaker and original manual: $349 Johnson Ranger I, 1954 160-10 meter TX, original dark paint colors, works perfectly, front panel is excellent but the case has many chips and scratches. No manual. $169 Johnson Viking phone patch, small and simple: $19 Eico 770K CB radio, tube-type, looks identical to Eico 720 ham transmitter. Complete and looks good, untested. $39 National SW-54, cute low-end SWL radio from the 50's. Excellent cosmetic condition. Untested. $91 National NC-188. Really uncommon and ugly, poor-performing radio made by National in the 60s. Hard to find as few were sold (no wonder!). The design has a long horizontal dial splt into tuning on the left and ham bandspread on the right (like the Hallicrafters SX-71). This one works but is made even uglier by a fair case and one surface rust spot on the front panel. $91 Radio Direction Finders Heathkit Marine, this is a small, squarish, two-tone paint, miniature-tube design with the flat ferrite-core rotatable antenna on top, with N-E-S-W markings shown on a large dial. It is nice enough, though it needs some cleanup and has one unoriginal knob. It works. Listed in the 1963 Heath catalog. $85 RCA AR-8711 "Radio Direction Finder." Designed for marine use, this is (I am guessing by the miniature tubes and TUNING EYE!) a mid-50s radio that covers 150 khz - 5.5 mhz. The front panel is a neat deco layout with the old RCA logo mounted in the center of the speaker. It has a 20" diameter, 1/2" thick metal loop mounted on a N-E-S-W calibrated swivel on top. This comes out to an PL-259 plug. Just add an extension and you have a really great 160 meter antenna to go with your conversation piece. The radio itself is untested but looks brand new inside--quality construction throughout. Requires an external power supply which I do not have. Knobs are not original. Battleship-grey case is scratched but the front panel is very good. $105 Old Audio Gates 7X "Remote Control Amplifier," rackmount, mono w/mic input. Top-of-the-line, excellent: $61 Altec Lansing 438A Compressor Amplifier, rack mount, nice: $39 GE UPX-003B "Phono-Mic Preamplifier," untested: $7 Esprey AM/FM Tuner chassis only, untested, as-is: $13 RCA 9-JY 45rpm turntable: $26 For Antique Modulators Only Collins 212B-2 "Broadcast Speech Input Console," 1955, 7 inputs with cue and program for 2 studios and the console. 3 components include rack mount power supply, rack mount relay deck and the console itself. Quoth the manual: "The Collins Type 212B-2 equipment is designed primarily for the smaller station where operational facilities are not so complex." In very good unmodified condition, some wear marks at lever switches. Impressive piece of gear. Console shipping weight is 110 pounds. $749 Quality Boatanchors National NC-300, 1960-vintage ham band receiver with XCU-300 calibrator, very good cosmetic and working condition: $129 Hammarlund HQ-129X GC receiver. This is the nicest one of these I have ever seen. If you've looked for a 129X, you know that they develop bad wear marks around the knobs, ruining the looks of the front panel. This one HAS NONE OF THAT. This radio is near-mint inside and out. With crystal calibrator and manual photocopy. $129 RME 4350. As shown in the Moore book. Nice condition, complete, untested. $105 Hallicrafters HT-37 transmitter, 1963, in positively wonderful condition, paint sparkles, front panel is showroom-grade, with original manual and dow-key relay: $139 Hallicrafters HT32A transmitter, 80-10 meters, very, very nice. With Manual (cover missing) and dow-key relay: $139 Hallicrafters SX101A receiver, works great, black paint has some scratches that could probably be buffed off, silver paint has been repainted grey (it looks nice, but it's the wrong color). With manual (manual covers in bad shape): $159 S38 Parade Hallicrafters S-38C, 1948 vintage low-end GC receiver. Cosmetically very good. The grey case has a few scratches and one chipped knob but it looks good overall. The back is missing. It works but the controls are scratchy and I suspect the electrolytics are going. $29 Hallicrafters S-38E, 1950s vintage low-end GC receiver, last of the 38s with re-designed front panel. Cabinet is very good including the back. The dial works and is clean. Electrically similar to the above, scratchy controls and re-cap work probably desirable. $39 Good Used Ham Gear Swan Station: This is an older tube-type station with nice styling in very good working condition. Package price: $199. Includes: 1. Swan 117X power supply. Powers the 500. 2. Swan 500 transciever 80-10 meters, 240 watts out SSB, 180 watts out CW, 50 watts out AM. With Manual. 3. Swan Accesories: Spare tubes, VX-1 VOX adapter, and Turner hand mic. Drake R4 receiver, 160-10 meter ham bands, no WARC bands, works fine, front panel is near-mint, case top has 3 scratches. No manual. $139. Heathkit Maurauder transmitter, 80-10 meters, 90 watts out, classic two-tone green, massive AM/CW/SSB/FSK rig. Built-in power supply. Super nice looking and working. $101 Millen Absorption Wavemeter. 1950-vintage pre-grid-dip technology. 4 tuning coils with direct-reading dials in original wooden case. Fine condition. $38 Heath HS-24 external speaker, designed to match HR-10B receiver and Heath's green mobile gear. Mint and rare. $18 Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back.
