How did you like it? What did you do with it....any mods? To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu Now that I have a window office (for at least the next couple of hours...) I can park my car (mobile HF/2M equipped) line-of-sight from my window. I can see the car fine, and the glass is about 60 degress off perpendicular from the axis of view. The glass is double paned, and the outside is somewhat mirrored, meaning quite a bit of attenuation on the inwards direction. I would *love* to be able to operate my mobile setup from inside my office (during break time only) and I am considering either an optical or RF link. The link would need to be ful-duplex, and have capability for both a voice band and a low-speed data band. Any suggestions? 73 Dave WB0GAZ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Oct 1993 21:26:49 GMT From: news.cerf.net!kaiwan.com!andrew@network.ucsd.edu Subject: New Kenwood VVHF/UHF base in future? To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu Has anyone heard of any news about a new Kenwood all-mode VHF/UHF base station? I heard someone say that they had something in the works that would have 4 bands (probably 2m., 220, 440, and 1.2) and would be an all-mode station. Are these rumors true, and if so, when can we expect this gem, and how much will we be spending? I tried connecting the key to pins 7 and 5 but didnt get any response. The software setup shoulda been right. I would be using it to practice for the CW- test. To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu Greetings-- I have a strange problem with the call scan feature on my Kenwood TM-732 mobile dual bander. Actual behavior: When in call scan mode on the 440 band, the frequency display toggles between the output frequency of the call channel and the *input* frequency of the memory channel. Expected behavior: I expect it to scan between the output frequency of the call channel and the *output* frequency of the memory channel. This problem only affects the 440 band. The memory channel is not in reverse mode. This affects all memory channels on 440, but only in call scan mode. That is, when I quit scanning, the memory channel shows the output frequency. When I first started using the call channel on 440, the call scan feature worked as expected. Then I hit the reverse button with the 440 band active while in call scan mode on the 440 band. (I thought that the 2m band was active and I was trying to hear someone on the input frequency of the channel on the 2m band.) Since then, I have not been able to use the call scan feature. What I have tried: Duplicate the reverse-while-call-scanning trick VFO reset Full memory reset The problem remains. Anyway, has anyone else seen anything like this? -- Craig Bosworth, KD6WQH Hewlett-Packard, San Diego Division craigb@sdd.hp.com 619 592-8609 ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Oct 1993 12:05:32 GMT From: news.service.uci.edu!paris.ics.uci.edu!csulb.edu!library.ucla.edu!agate!howland.reston.ans.net!spool.mu.edu!news.clark.edu!netnews.nwnet.net!saturn.wwc.edu!hal224.wwc.edu!morgdw@network Subject: Want Mods for Alinco DJ-F1T (H) To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu Looking for both Aircraft Band Mod and the out of band Transmit mod for the Alinco DJ-FlT (H).
