This area is hard pressed by not having a local Digipeter to connect to. The closes ones are in Lexington Ky Berea Ky Ashland, Ky and Cinn. Ohio. All takes humungus power requirements to connect to and the gateway appears to be the best approach. I am trying to write some code to display multigray faxes from an MFJ1278. According to the manual, recieved bytes = 'p', 'q', or 'r' are sync pulses; all others contain data. When I turn MULTIFAX ON, I seem to get an inordinate number of syncs and not much data. Before you even think it... yes, the signal is tuned correctly, since if I turn MULTIFAX OFF and otherwise leave the system untouched I get nice monochrome faxes... Any hints/kinks/info would be greatly appreciated... The MF10 introduced tone twists that, when coupled with the de-emphasis in many ham FM rigs, resulted in many missed packets. Since the detector is a PLL, it acts as it's own filter and the MF10 wasn't accomplishing anything useful anyway. If you're getting more errors without the MF10, then the 6 db of twist it introduced must have been working in your favor with your particular setup. That's not the typical case. >By the by, since the test mentioned above, my 1270B has been modified >to run 9600 baud, which is does. The KISS parameters are reset to their default after X minutes of inactivity. Swap in either earlier or newer firmware and this will go away. Better, just install the K3MC KISS only firmware and forget about it. It's more robust, and you don't have to worry about having a battery in the TNC to save settings. ARRL has one, "Your Packet Companion", and there are 4-5 more. That one is only about $8 and will be something you can reference as you go along. To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu I've built my baycom modem (using the TCM3105). It's working okay though I need to get the right xtal for transmitting. What I'm interested in is finding out more about the TCM3105 chip itself so I might build my own design sometime. Also, I hear about a chip, the AM...7910 maybe? that does the same thing. Does TI or whoever makes the AM chip (AMD?) provide spec sheets free for these, and if so, could I get some fax numbers for them? Or, if anyone HAS the spec sheets and it's not illegal, maybe they could fax them to me (collect call). Thanks. Or heck, if someone could just tell me what each of the pins on the chip is used for (I know what most of them are) and some normal wiring for each setup. koberg@spot.colorado.edu ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Dec 1993 16:09:23 GMT From: library.ucla.edu!europa.eng.gtefsd.com!avdms8.msfc.nasa.gov!sol.ctr.columbia.edu!math.ohio-state.edu!cs.utexas.edu!geraldo.cc.utexas.edu!portal.austin.ibm.com!awdprime.@@nntp.ucsb.edu Subject: tcp-group@ucsd.edu To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu ucsd.edu:mailarchives/tcp-group/* Format is Vyy.ddd.Z for digests, Vyy/* for "super-mbox" before digests. milton -- Milton Miller KB5TKF miltonm@austin.ibm.com I never speak for IBM. ------------------------------ Date: 19 Dec 93 20:55:28 GMT From: news-mail-gateway@ucsd.edu Subject: TNC for CB Frequecies To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu I would like to know if it is possible to use a TNC on a CB Radio. If so where could I obtain one Perhaps a schematic or kit, And what would that cost me. Thanks In Anticipation.
