The FCC rules say you can transmit on FM but your output has to be less than x mVolts a x meters. JDR electronics carries an FM stereo transmitter kit that is legal if you don't modify it by adding things such as a power amplifier and a large antenna. If anyone is interested, I can lookup an summarize the requirements. Its call slottime and persistence. Slottime is the amount of clear (no activity) time the TNC waits, persistence is the chance that after the expiry of this slottime that it'll transmit. Assuming NOS of some familiar type....you can probably set the values before going into KISS mode.... param 2 - changes the persistence. val is from 0 to 255. The higher the number the more likely that the randomly generated number will be less than or equal to the persistence value, so it'll transmit. param 3 - sets the slottime in 10's of milliseconds. Other values of interest: param 1 - sets the TXDelay in 10's of milliseconds. param 4 - sets the TXTail in 10's of milliseconds. param 5 0/1 - half/full duplex switch param 255 - exit KISS mode. is the name of the KISS interface. -- "Just a Crazy Engineer with an Amiga and an HP48sx" - The Dreamer Email: dreamer@lhaven.uumh.ab.ca or "Lawrence Chen" @ 1:134/3002 PHONE: +1 403 526 6019 FAX: +1 403 529 5102 CIS: 74200,2431 Lunatic Haven BBS: +1 403 526 6957 | Packet: @VE6FRM.#HAT.AB.CAN.NA Praxis Society K12 BBS: +1 403 529 1610 | Callsign: VE6LKC ------------------------------ Date: 15 Nov 93 09:38:03 MDT From: darwin.sura.net!math.ohio-state.edu!caen!hellgate.utah.edu!cc.usu.edu!symantec.com!RABALAIS@seismo.css.gov Subject: Kantronics Host mode stuff To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu Does anyone out there know where I can find specs/source on using the Kantronics Host Mode?
