Welcome to Project Gutenberg

The Project Gutenberg Anthology Series

Each anthology will contain shorter pieces of fiction, poetry, essays, criticism etc.

Each anthology will be thematic in nature except when more eclectic volumes are desirable.

Frequency will be irregular to begin with.

The first issue will be a 1995 Martin Luther King Memorial Day special. A considerable amount of material has already been collected for this issue.

The second issue will thematically reflect children's literature of the 19th century and may include a never-since released short novel by Horatio Alger with a female protagonist!

THE USUAL COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS APPLY! If you intend to contribute, your piece, however short, must still be cleared in the usual fashion. The good news is that we are in the process of clearing entire periodical runs which will help considerably. Also, it may be possible to clear "collected works" sets with a single clearance request.

The Anthology Series will be a group effort. Experienced volunteers will find a place to release the material that is just too short to release as a regular Project Gutenberg edition. New and less experienced volunteers may find this an easy way to break in or hone their skills without tremendous time commitments.

Where to send material:

Two copies should be sent, one to Michael Hart (hart@vmd.cso.uiuc.edu) so that Project Gutenberg will be the ultimate repository for etext produced under its auspices, and the second to the group coordinator, currently myself. I prefer email, even for longer pieces but the Project Gutenberg copy should be ftp'd to the incoming directory. (Ask Michael Hart for details).
