Shannon was confused. "Wait a minute, how do you know what I want?" She was getting impatient.

"You hide great sorrow for a child," the Chronicler said. "Your sorrow has inspired a search for knowledge within you. Despite your impatience, your wisdom grows with each passing year." Shannon just listened, no longer frustrated. It was like looking in a mirror. The man seemed to know her very thoughts.

"Time is short," the Chronicler said.

"The skies will change, and the Starlight will be hidden if we do not succeed," the Scribe Chronicler continued. "We can only wait, for we do not posess, we only serve. For your part, soon you shall grow to become a beautiful and wise young woman, and this is why you must turn from your impatience, hold fast to your courage, and find what you seek."

Shannon blushed. "You--, you think I'm beautiful??" she stammered. Nobody had ever told her that before, and she didn't know what to say. She smiled and looked away.

"Do not be distracted!" The man scolded her. Shannon looked up, startled. "You must prepare yourself if you are to be granted entry. If you remain impatient, then do not return, for you are where you do not belong."
