Smooth Wall is a very special mini Linux distro, which allows you to use a redundant old machine (e.g. an old 486) as a remotely configurable firewall appliance for home or small business use. Smoothwall is a doddle to install and configure, and once it's set up it takes care of providing a secure gateway to the internet for all your other computers. Please read the SmoothWall documentation here and in the magazine before installing. NB - Do NOT BOOT FROM THIS CD unless you wish to install SmoothWall. The software will take over the machine ENTIRELY, and will destroy any previous OSes installed |
