                         MANAGEMENT  BULLETIN

The DDN MANAGEMENT BULLETIN is distributed online by the DDN Network
Information Center under DCA contract as a means of communicating
official policy, procedures and other information of concern to
management personnel at DDN facilities.  Back issues may be read
through the TACNEWS server ("@n" command at the TAC) or may be
obtained by FTP (or Kermit) from the NIC.DDN.MIL host [192.67.67.20]
using login="anonymous" and password="guest".  The pathname
for bulletins is DDN-NEWS:DDN-MGT-BULLETIN-nn.TXT (where "nn" is the
bulletin number).

        USAGE SENSITIVE BILLING (USB) SERVICE DESK CHANGE

In April 1990, DCA established the Usage Sensitive Billing (USB)
Service Desk at the DDN Network Information Center (NIC).  This
bulletin announces that the USB support service will be merged 
with the ongoing DDN User Assistance services provided by the
NIC.

No change will occur in the level of support provided to DDN users.
User Assistance (UA) staff will continue to respond to general billing
questions, as well as specific queries regarding network usage,
network connections, network traffic volume, dial-up time, network
addresses, and so on.  

The main change is that users are now asked to call the NIC
hotline phone number at 1-800-235-3155, rather than the previously
announced USB phone number.  In addition, the USB support hours have
been extended to 6 a.m. through 5 p.m., Pacific time.

In order to accurately and efficiently respond to billing questions,
the UA service desk staff will continue to have several sources of
reference information available.

Billing questions can be asked of the UA service desk via telephone,
electronic mail, or U.S. postal mail.  Note that although the toll
free telephone number is now the same as the NIC hotline phone number,
the separate electronic mailbox BILLING@NIC.DDN.MIL has been retained.
