All of these actions are basic windows commands, and can be used in the e mail composition window, new Usenet message window, and the article display window.


Cut

To cut or remove highlighted text from a document.

Copy

To copy highlighted text from a window onto windows clipboard.  (control + C is the keyboard shortcut)

Paste

To paste the contents of windows clipboard into a text file, message composition window, use this command.  (control + V is the keyboard shortcut)


Paste as quote

To paste the contents of windows clipboard into a text file, message composition window, use this command.  This will add the prefix chosen as your quote prefix before the text.

Delete

Will delete selected highlighted text.


Select all

Will select (highlight) all lines in any window.


Find

Find is very useful, you can use this to find keywords for any file or article within Agent.
(control + F is the keyboard shortcut)

Uses:

1) Highlight a group, with all groups showing, type in a keyword, and the first group with that keyword will appear, use find next to keep hunting.

2) Highlight a message within a group, and use this function to find articles with the keyword you have chosen.

Example:
  a) In binary groups, use control + F type in .jpg and Agent will find articles with .jpg in the header, an easy way to locate pictures.
  b) Use this function to locate an author, type in the authors e mail name, and Agent will find the first article posted by that person.


Find next

Use this with the above command, once Agent finds the first article that matches your keyword, hit control + G and Agent will go to the next article with that keyword.

You can use this across groups, when done with one group, highlight the next group, then highlight a message in that group, and hit control + G, Agent remembers the last used keyword.


Apply ROT13

Rarely used, it is only needed for specially encoded files, not seen much in the regular groups.

Copy WWW URL

This will copy the URL into windows clipboard, you can then paste it into a text file, or into your web browser.
