New usenet message

This will bring up the posting window, and allow you to post a new message to the highlighted group. By default, the highlighted group will already be in the post to field.

Hint:
To post to more than one group at a time, use a , to separate the groups, example:

alt.binaries.games,alt.binaries.games.discussion,alt.binaries.games.mod

Would post to all of those groups, you would only send the message once. This is called crossposting, and should be used with caution.

See also the section on Posting Guidelines

Followup Usenet message

This is used to followup on an article that has already been posted. In the majority of cases, an e mail to the author of the article is sufficient. Use followup sparingly, and only if the message you are sending is relevant to the group the message will be posted to.

NOTE***
When using this feature you must be extremely careful, some posts are cross posted to many off topic groups, if you use followup to post an additional message, your post will also go to all those groups, and you may become the subject of flames. Use with caution.

Reply via e mail

Use this to reply to the author of a posted article, it will bring up the e mail composition window.

Forward

Forward quoted

This will put the contents of the highlighted message into your new post or e mail, with the prefix specified in the options menu. ( >>> or ***)

Forward unquoted

This will put the contents of the highlighted message into your new post or e mail without the prefix.

Forward verbatim

This will send an exact copy of the original, including all header fields, not always useful, except in cases where all that info may be needed to identify a poster, or the originating source for a message.

New copy of message

This is useful for re sending messages stored in a place other than the outbox, if you have messages stored in many folders, you would use this to resend a copy of that message.

For resending a message in the outbox, simply find the message, hit enter while it is highlighted, and hit send, a confirmation box will come up, click O.K., and off it goes.

Cancel Usenet message

This is in case you goof up and send a message before it was ready to send, or if you have a change in heart.

Note that this function is limited in many ways, not Agent fault, but because of the way Usenet works.

To use this, highlight the offending message in the outbox (or wherever it is stored) and click this option.

For multi part files, you will need to do this only for each part of the message, not each section.

Example:

I sent the file game01.zip
It was posted in 4 parts
Only one cancel message is needed.

I sent the files game01.zip and game02.zip
Each zip file was posted in four parts, so I will need to hit cancel for game01.zip then again for game02.zip.

SPECIAL NOTE******

The sooner you try to cancel a message, the better your chances are. If you wait too long the message will already have propagated to other servers, and your cancel message must make it to each server in order to cancel the article. Some servers do not honor cancel messages, so no matter what you do, you cannot get rid of a message entirely if you wait too long.
