Apply Usenet filters

This will apply all your filters to each highlighted group at one time, very useful if you have added filters to your set, and want to update all groups.

Subscribe

This shows if you are subscribed to a group or not, and if you click it and it has a check mark, you will be prompted to delete the whole group and all messages.

Show

All groups and folders

This show all groups and folders, even unsubscribed groups. Use this to find new groups of interest.

Subscribed groups and folders

This will show only your subscribed groups and folders, you will use this setting 90 percent of the time.

New groups

Will show only new groups, you should use the "get new groups" function from the on-line menu first.

Folders

This will show only your folders, no groups will be visible.

New folder
You can make new folders from here. Folders are very powerful tools in Agent, you can save articles into specific folders for later use, makes more sense than trying to find that kept article 3 months after you saved it! If you subscribe to the group alt.binaries.games.tips, then make a folder called game tips, and every article you want to save put here, now all your tips will be in one place for you. You can have as many folders as you want, just watch your hard drive usage!

This is also a good place to mention that once you have folders, you can combine the contents of that folder into one large file by using agent digest function, makes e mailing a bunch of small articles so easy.

Delete

This will delete whatever is highlighted, use with caution.

Mark selected groups read

This will mark all highlighted groups as read, useful to do before getting new headers, as all new headers will be a different color, thus makes reading easier.

Mark all groups read

Will mark all your groups as read, same as above, except you don't have to highlight any groups.

Purge Newsgroups

Subscribed

Will purge all old articles from all subscribed groups.

Selected

Will purge all old articles from only the highlighted groups.

All

Will purge all old articles from all groups, whether subscribed or not.

NOTE*** You do not have to subscribe to a group to read a group, however it is much easier to subscribe and read than not to.
