THE FIRST TIME
THE FIRST TIME YOU RUN AGENT

The first time you run agent, it will prompt you for the needed set-up information. You should have all of this already (remember the first chapter?). Follow these steps to get all this info into agent. These directions are general, you should read through all the files here as often as needed. You do not need to be on line to set-up agent the first time. In fact, it would be better if you were off line for this section, to save time and aggravation.

Step one:

Open agent by double clicking it's icon. I will use some standard conventions in this section, they are:

When I say "go to" I am referring to the file, edit, group etc., buttons at the top of the screen.

When I use <go to> I am referring to a sub menu command BELOW the above buttons.

With agent open, "go to" the "options menu" and choose <user and system profile>. A menu box will appear, in this box, do the following:

Now, click on <User>.
1) E mail address: Type in your e mail address, i.e., danfor28@moran.com
2) Full name: you can type in anything you wish to appear, it does not have to be your real name.
3) Organization: type in your company or organization here, you can leave this blank.
reply to: This should be your preferred e mail address, i.e., danfor28@aol.com
4) Reply to: Your e mail address should be here.

If your news server requires authorization, check this box, and fill in the password and logon name, otherwise leave this unchecked.

Now, click on <System>.

news server: type in your server address, EXACTLY as your provider gave it to you, case sensitive. Mine appears as, ns1.moran.com, yours will be different.

e mail server: type in your e mail server address EXACTLY as your provider gave it to you, case sensitive. Mine appears as, mail.moran.com, your will be different.
