Xanim is probably the best Unix multimedia viewer available. Among others,
it can view the popular Quicktime and AVI (IV32, IV41, IV50) formats when
loaded with the binary-only run-time loaded codec libraries. Unfortunately,
these codec libraries cannot be (easily) distributed and thus cannot be made
into RPMs. To use them, go to the Xanim home page, download them, and install
them in "/usr/X11R6/lib/xanim" (or some other directory specified by the
XANIM_MOD_DIR environment variable). Alternatively, you may also pick up the
"xanim-codecs" nosource RPM and generate your own (personal) RPM of the codecs.
See the "README.dll" file for more information on these libraries.
