Data Files

The data files are developed from various investigations using NEC.
They are provided for general training and familiarization with the power
of NEC, and with the format the program demands.

Files .NEC are input files in the comma format generated by NCARDS, for the
particular compiled program versions supplied here. Run the GO file in the
root directory for a suggested approach to using these files.

Files with different formats of the input files may result in errors, which
must be corrected before the file can be used. Some of the errors
encountered are non-card format lines, lines too long, blank instead of a 0,
incorrect decimal useage: the errors do vary from one compiler to another.
At least one compiler produces an error line if comma format is used
and there are too many spaces between the comma and the numerical
value: one space is needed to allow for a + or a - sign, both being
allowed characters.

Files .OUT are results of a run, and are provided for check purposes.

See the PUBLIC section for dimensions of a number of common Amateur
Antennas. The programs in that section and in MiniNEC can be used to
check the general results of NEC runs. Gross differences indicate a
problem somewhere, probably in data input. For smaller differences, it is
almost always true that NEC is correct.
