Introduction
___________________________________________________________________________
Thank you for trying S.S. BattleShip for Windows, the classic game of
Battleship, with a twist! S.S. BattleShip is distributed as ShareWare so
you can try-it-before-you-buy-it, and save money too! S.S. BattleShip also
takes advantage of the Windows user interface, and provides VGA high
resolution graphics. The twist? S.S. BattleShip adds another level of
strategy to the game with these special game features:
Mines! ---------------> With mines, you can get a head start on your
opponent by exposing part of their navy without
firing a shot. You can also help guard your
ships from enemy attack.
Islands! * -----------> The virtually unlimited combination of screen
layouts make each game different!
Submerge
Submarine! * --------> Just when the enemy starts aiming at your sub,
give the order to dive! Submerge your submarine
to a depth even the computer can't hit!
Move Spy Ship! * -----> Secretly move your spy ship to a new location
after the game has already started! But watch
out for those enemy mines!
Minesweeping! * ------> Use your minesweeper to locate and destroy enemy
mines!
The Admirals
Hall of Fame! * ------> Make your mark in the International Admirals Hall
of Fame! See how your best score fares against
BattleShip Admirals from around the world.
(*) These features are only available in the registered version.
However, this ShareWare version does include BONUS games which allow you to
try these features! See the help file for further details.
Requirements

S.S. BattleShip requires the following:
Microsoft Windows 3.x.
A mouse or compatible pointing device.
A monitor and video board supporting VGA graphics.
Installation Instructions.

To install from a floppy diskette:
1. Insert disk in drive A.
2. In Program Manager, or File Manager, choose run from the File menu.
3. Type a:setup and press ENTER.
To install from hard drive:
1. Unpack archived file to a work sub-directory on your hard drive.
2. In Program Manager, or File Manager, choose run from the File menu.
3. Type C:\WORK\setup and press ENTER, where C is your hard drive and
WORK is the work directory where you unpacked the archived file.
Complete game instructions are included in the Windows help file and can be
accessed with the Help menu option from within the game.

1. Files with the an underscore in the extension (EX_) are in compressed
format and must be installed with the SETUP.EXE program.

You are encouraged to copy and distribute this software as long as the

Please make sure the name of the archive file contains the version number.
Example: SSBATL11.ZIP (where 11 is the version.)

Registration
___________________________________________________________________________
S.S. BattleShip is distributed as Shareware. This allows you to try-it-
before-you-buy-it, but if you continue to use the game after the trial
period of 21 days, you must register.
When you register, you will receive the latest version of S.S. BattleShip
on diskette. The registered version allows you to select each of the game
options (Islands, Mine Sweeping, Submerge Submarine, Move Spy Ship) in any
combination, and save the configuration. Watch for the BONUS games in this
ShareWare copy to try these options! Registered users are also eligible
for entry into the International Admirals Hall of Fame!
Select the Register menu option from within the game to register with the
easy on-line screens. Just fill in the required information, and press the
print button. Or use the SSBREG.TXT text file included with this package.
Mail the registration form along with the registration fee $20 (US Dollars)
to the address listed below (See Support).
SimoneSystems accepts the following methods of payment:
1. Checks in US Dollars drawn on a US Bank.
2. US Dollars Cash (please send Certified mail).
3. VISA or MasterCard (Include credit card number, expiration date,
effective date (if any), and your signature).
Register on-line with Compuserve! Type GO SWREG and search for Registration
ID (#985). You will receive your S.S. BattleShip diskette via US Mail.
